About
Cleaning House
Life is busy – we have so much on our plates, because of that exercise and nutrition have become chores. We tend to approach the gym in the same manner we approach cleaning our homes. But what happens when you’re not into it? The corners of the house are dust ridden, the bathroom and refrigerator are barely touched, and you left the vacuum full of dust. But what happens when you are into it? You turn up the music and start dancing with the broom, you clean with a hop in your step and are finished before you know it.
This is the same story on how we approach our health and fitness. How many of us only floss the week before our dentist appointments or scrub the tub just before we have visitors? How many of us only exercise before we go on a beach trip or before the summer? Why are we approaching our health and well-being in such an unmotivated, cavalier, procrastinated way? You want to know why, because we turn the music down when taking care of ourselves, it’s hard, and it can get really boring really quickly.

As an overweight child growing up in Massachusetts, my parents and I struggled to keep my weight under control. It wasn’t until I became involved in sports that I finally reached a healthy weight. Losing the weight had an overwhelming effect on my self confidence; but like so many others, once I stopped training for sports, the baby fat returned and I was again overweight. I had always depended on the support of strength and conditioning coaches, and now I needed to find my own way back to a healthy weight. So, I studied, tried, tested, failed, succeeded and finally am proudly living a balanced life that incorporates fitness. I have learned a lot through this journey and I still continue to study and learn along the way. I have already done a lot of the leg work, so now I hope to pass on what I know and believe. But, finding and maintaining a balanced lifestyle isn’t just about listening. I would also like to hear from you and begin a conversation on fitness, health and everything in between.
